Lava Crowns

Lava Crowns are made from zirconium oxide (zirconia). Ziirconia is a ceramic material similar to the natural ceramic of your teeth. Once the zirconia has been made into a restoration it has a completely natural appearance and cannot hardly be distinguished from natural teeth.

How does it work?

Lava crowns allow the light to shine through restorations just like your natural teeth. The zirconia framework is coloured to match the individual colour of your teeth before fine layers of veneer ceramic are applied to it. In this way, the colour and translucency of your own teeth are imitated to the very core.

Can I chew normally?

Lava crowns are extremely strong and durable. They can be used for teeth at both the front and back of the mouth. They can also withstand the high levels of stress exerted when you chew or bite.

What about tooth sensitivity?

You can eat and drink hot and cold food without experiencing any discomfort. Unlike metal-based crowns or bridges, the ceramic used in Lava crowns is very similar to your natural teeth.
